While exploring Park Slope one day after a much-needed haircut, I came across The Chocolate Room. From the outside, one might assume it’s just a shop that sells chocolate truffles, but when you walk in, you’ll quickly realize it’s a cafe — the no-fuss, easygoing kind where you can sit for hours enjoying a cup of something (hot cocoa, coffee) and an uber-rich dessert (that is chocolate-focused).
I ordered a Brownie Sundae with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream and a Classic Hot Chocolate with a giant marshmallow (the server’s suggestion). I figured, I’d treat myself — after all, I am eating for two now.
The Brownie Sundae had just the right amount of sweetness — not too much, not too little — and had a hint of saltiness that a rich dessert like that really needs to cut into the sugar. The Hot Chocolate was just as yummy, but the highlight was that giant marshmallow (a little messy to bite into, but worth the struggle).
Next time I go to The Chocolate Room, I have to bring Jesse. He’d love it, not to mention the beer and wine pairings the menu suggests with every dessert.
